As citizens and leaders, we must be well versed in the multifaceted nature of energy. Energy is inherently interdisciplinary, and the fundamental role energy plays in our everyday lives is easily overlooked. We must increase our ‘energy literacy’ to understand how energy influences the future of our international economy and global climate.
Energy Hub provides the opportunities for University of Wisconsin students to learn and understand the fundamental connections between energy and their future.
Our goal is to make energy literacy a cornerstone of the UW experience.
To achieve this goal, we:
(1) Enable student-led initiatives related to energy
(2) Promote a culture of ‘energy literacy’ through campus-wide activities
(3) Encourage and support students to explore careers in the energy industry
We can’t do it alone. You can help us achieve our goals
To provide opportunities to students:
We would like to offer support on a competitive basis for summer internships, as well as connect students to professional careers through our online jobs database. Our sponsors help us attract bright students to energy careers, and in exchange benefit from direct access to our student network for job and internship recruitment.
To enable innovative student initiatives:
We collaborate with other student groups each semester on joint initiatives like expert guest lecturers and panel discussions on pressing energy issues. We provide a forum for energy industry insiders to share their experience and expertise with a student audience.
To promote energy literacy:
We campaign campus-wide for a culture shift that inspires interest in energy and motivates students to view energy as an integral part of their education and future.
To put energy ‘front and center’:
Energy Hub holds an annual conference – the largest energy-focused event on campus. Registration for the conference is provided at no charge to UW Madison students, encouraging the entire UW student community to attend, regardless of field of study. The eHub conference provides a venue where top students can interact with representatives from government, industry, academic, and non-profit sectors. Sponsorship of this event not only helps to provide a unique opportunity for students to learn about energy, but also offers sponsors unparalleled access to a growing community of energy-conscious students and leaders at the university.
